Yogeshwar Dutt wins Gold and qualifies for Rio 2016

2012 London Olympics bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt won the Gold medal in the 65 kgs Freestyle event at the Asia Olympic Wrestling Qualifier tournament in Kazakhstan. This earned an Olympic berth for Yogeshwar. Yeerlanbieke Katai from China forfeited the final match giving Yogeshwar the Gold medal. Yogeshwar displayed world class technical superiority in all his matches on the way to the final and ensured a 2nd Olympic quota in wrestling for India.

4th consecutive Olympics for Yogeshwar

Rio 2016 will be Yogeshwar's 4th Olympics. He will participate in the 65 kgs Freestyle event. His previous Olympic performances were as follows:

  • Athens 2004 - 55 kgs Freestyle - 18th
  • Beijing 2008 - 60 kgs Freestyle - 9th
  • London 2012 - 60 kgs Freestyle - Bronze

OGQ is proud to support Yogeshwar on the Road to Rio and we will continue to work towards helping him win a Gold medal for India at Rio 2016.

Viren Rasquinha, CEO, OGQ said "Yogeshwar was in superb form in all his bouts. He is only getting better with age. To reach his fourth consecutive Olympics in a tough physical sport like wrestling is an amazing achievement. Now Rio beckons and I'm sure he will give it his best shot."‎
