Parveen Rana

New Delhi, India

DOB – 12 November 1992

Event – Freestyle Wrestling (74 kg category)

Parveen Rana started Wrestling at the age of eight years under the watchful eyes of his father. Later, he shifted to Chhatrasal stadium in New Delhi where he currently trains. Parveen first burst into the lime light after winning the Gold medal at the 3rd Youth Commonwealth Games in 2008. His biggest achievement so far has been winning the bronze medal in the 2011 Junior Wrestling World Championship in Bucharest.20 year old Rana lifted the 66kg freestyle title at the first Hari Ram Indian Grand Prix Wrestling Championships 2012. He lived up to the expectation of his coaches who had great faith in his ability and claimed his first international gold medal at the senior level. He had also bagged the Asian Senior Championship Bronze earlier in the same year.Much like his role model, two time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, Rana relies on swift counter-attacks. With many medals won at the international level, Parveen is already making Indian proud with his exploits.Parveen won the Gold medal at the Senior National Wrestling Championship in Kolkata 2013 followed by a Gold medal at the commonwealth championship in Johannesburg, South Africa. Parveen had a career threatening neck injury in June 2014, OGQ helped him undergo treatment at a world class sports medicine specialist and his recovery was supervised by Dr. Nikhil Latey. Parveen made a remarkable comeback to win the National trials and get selected to represent India in the 70 kg weight category at the Asian Games 2014.

OGQ has tremendous belief in the potential of Parveen and we will ensure that he gets the best possible support to fulfill his aim of winning a medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
