Jitu Rai hails from Lucknow and is one of the best pistol shooters in India at present. He is the top ranked Indian shooter in both 10 m Air Pistol and 50 m Free Pistol. He was the first shooter to qualify for Rio 2016 when he won silver at the 2014 World Championships in 50m Free Pistol. Jitu has been in sensational form in last 3 years entering 12 World Cup finals and winning six medals in them. In 2016 he has already won two medals which includes a gold medal in 50m Free Pistol at the Bangkok World Cup and silver in 10m Air Pistol at the Baku World Cup.

Jitu created history in 2014 when he won 3 world cup medals in the span of 9 days. He won a Gold and Silver medal in 10 m Air Pistol in Munich and Maribor and he won a Silver medal in 50 m Free Pistol in Maribor.

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Jitu won the Gold medal in the 50 m Free Pistol event with a Games record in both the qualification and the final. At the 2014 Shooting World Championships in Granada, Spain, Jitu won India’s first quota place for the 2016 Rio Olympics. He won the Silver medal in the 50 m Free Pistol event. Jitu won the Gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the 50 m Free Pistol event and a Team bronze medal in the 10 Air Pistol event.
